"Take responsibility for your own body, mind and spirit, for your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being."
                            -Mr. C.S. Haymore

I think that this quote is trying to say that we should take control of our body and the way its is being used. You must have control in order to complete something peacefully, with your mind and spirit. To be healthy you must not only be physically healthy but also mentally and spiritually. These many characteristics help relax your body and show the best side of you. The side that you are responsible for showing each and every day. In order to have responsibility and control over your mind you must have a great spirit. And in order to have great physical health you must have good mental health and spiritual health. You have control over your body whether you decide to use it is what affects the responsibility of yourself. Many things you can't control and you have no responsibility over the outcome. Such as an earthquake could hit and the damage could be done but you had no control because you never knew it would happen. On the other hand if there was a tornado and the sirens went off but instead of reacting correctly you started to panic and you put your family in danger. Your responsibility and control did not matter to you in that moment. If you would have reacted to calmly to the tornado sirens then you would have led your family to a safe place and followed the drill. This is what responsibility and control over your body must be. Everything is connected, your mind to your spirit, physical to mental, but everything is connected to your body. Therefore think before you act and remember take responsibility and control over your body.

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education."
                                 -Martin Luther King Jr.

I believe this quote is saying that in order to be very successful you must have both intelligence and character. Intelligence can only get you so far. Character alone is the same. But combine the two together and you have a big accomplishment. You may say what does intelligence have to do with character and what does character have to do with intelligence? Well without character you are saying that you are disrespectful, untrustworthy, dishonest, etc. and without intelligence then you don't get the right grades at school. If you have good grades such as straight A's and your character setting is strong because you are kind to others, because you are loyal, etc. then you will have many achievements accomplished with that being said. If you have amazing grades but you get into a lot of trouble and you have been caught doing something wrong then you intelligence but not enough character. This will make you feel good about your grades but not about your behavior. The consequences could equal in your parents not trusting you enough to go hang out with your friends after school. Will this upset you? Maybe, but remember you brought this upon yourself. The same thing could happen if you have bad grades but amazing character. This says you have little intelligence but a lot of character which can help you gain trust but without the knowledge/intelligence it will be harder for you to keep going. Whereas if you have amazing grades and amazing character then you will get very far. Don't make the wrong choices and remember to have high levels of both character and intelligence.

Student Success Statement 1/09/2017

"We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do."
                                               -Richard L. Evans

I believe this quote is saying that we shouldn't be afraid of doing the right thing because we know it is right and that we should stay away from the bad things in life because they can hurt you more than you expect. I also think this quote is trying to say is that everyone has courage but we use it differently. Some use it for the sake of others such as man saving someone from a burning car or a person saving someone from the train tracks after they have fallen and a train is coming. These are good examples of why you should use you courage and continue what you know is good. When you don't stop continuing what you know is bad then you are using your courage falsely. You can't use courage to prove things to others. Such as you smoke weed because your friends told you that you're scared. Be scared because you know that smoking is bad and it can injure you very badly. Another example would also be that you ask out a person because you got dared to. Why would you do that if you don't really like the person. Not only will you be hurting them but also yourself. Don't use courage to prove things because that is not why it is inside you. Courage is inside you so that you prove to yourself that you can help others and continue even though there is something in your way. Have courage and use it correctly.

What I did over Winter Break

What I did over Winter Break

Image result for happy new year 2017            Over break I did some pretty nice thing. Most of the time I was at parties with my family. Over Christmas I went to my uncle's house and spent Christmas Eve there. We did the traditional celebration with tamales, posole, hot chocolate, ponche and many other foods. We watched movies and played together. When it was getting close to midnight the parents took the little kids outside so that they can light up sparklers. It was a really fun night and one of the best Christmas celebrations I have had in California so far. Then for New Years I went to my other uncle's house and we had a New Year celebration. We ate tamales and tacos, and drank hot chocolate, ponche, or coffee. The adults did some funny things then the kids got to break the pinata. If the adults didn't do the dare they got they had to put money in the pinata for the kids. I didn't get to hit the pinata but I got most of the money and I also hurt my hand because someone stepped on me. During the pinata moment I also lost my beanie because someone took it off of my head. Luckily I found it and I made sure it didn't fall off anymore. I didn't go many places except on the last Saturday of winter break I went to San Bernardino, California to visit my aunt. It was so far from here that I was extremely bored in the car, mostly because I have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time. Something else I did over break was go to the movie theater with my family. We watched Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. I thought the movie mind-blowing. It was such a good movie that I want to buy it when it comes out on DVD. Luckily I didn't have homework so I was able to enjoy my break with ease and not worry about turning in work. Over break I also met my aunt from Mexico who is exactly one day younger than me. Also on the last Monday of break I watched some of my friends perform in the Rose Parade!! Well that's all I did over Winter Break!!!!!!
