Ten Indian Commandments
1. Treat the Earth and all that dwells therein with respect.

2. Remain close to the Great Spirit.

3. Show great respect to your fellow beings.

4. Work together for the benefit of mankind.

5. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.

6. Do you what you know to be right.

7. Look after the well-being of mind and body.

8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.

9. Be truthful and honest at all times.

10. Take full responsibility for your actions.

I believe that the 10 Indian Commandments are trying to show people a better way to get through life. They are trying to get people to understand that you must be kind and give support to the well beings around you. It is also showing that you are not only meant to be kind to people but to the Earth as well as the creatures that give the world its beauty. These can be taken into your life to show you the responsibility of taking care of everything that is around you because it corresponds to an inner piece of your body. Before we were who we are today, our ancestors had to follow these very commandments or something similar. You may not follow these commandments because neither do I but I follow something that is almost similar in a way. But every commandment is giving the message that you must do your best to follow through in protecting the world from the creatures and people who want to cause harm to it. These commandments are showing you to bring out your inner self and to let peace wrap you in a blanket of comfort so that it may be passed on to others.

Student Success Statement 4/21/2017

I believe that what this quote is trying to show its audience is that the things that you do that you did out of goodness will have a true meaning than the things that you did not. How many times have you done something out of a good heart? What have you gotten in return? When you perform an act of goodness you will always get something in return because you invested a part of you to help someone else all because you wanted to. For example lets say that a fellow classmate forgot their homework on the table and you saw it. You picked it up and took it to them and not only did you take it to them, you also offered to help them with their homework. In this example you have invested some of your time to help the student out and therefore you did it out of goodness not because someone told you to. With this act of goodness you have shown that the investment will never fail because it will help you climb another step closer to success. But if you decided not to take the homework to your fellow classmate and just left it alone then you have shown that you don't care and that there is little to no goodness found in you. Everyone has goodness in them but some have more than others. you must always be able to help others and never be expecting something in return. The greatest act of goodness is giving someone your time because it is something that will be kept on to. Goodness is only found on the inside of a person not on the outside. You want to live a life that will help you feel good not just look good because goodness captures your personality.

Student Success Statement 4/19/2017

I believe that this quote is trying to say that you can't make decisions that everyone else is making because it feels like a good idea to follow them, you must make your decisions because seep inside you know that they are the right ones. When you make a decision it may take time but you always want to make the decision that will have a greater outcome. A greater and better outcome that is. For example you have an essay due tomorrow. You don't want to do because your friends asked you if you wanted to hang out with them, so you decided to find an essay that was about the same topic and copy and paste it to pretend that it was yours. You made this decision because you wanted to be with your friends rather than take the time to write an honest and complete essay. The next day your teacher realizes that she has read this essay off the internet and calls you out on it. You get a fail because you copied and you also get sent to the principle's office for plagiarism.  If only you decided to write your own essay then you wouldn't have to suffer the consequences that came with copying and pasting it in the first place. Even your decisions matter in life. They help lay a brick for your house in the future. Every bad decision means you have laid down a rotten brick which eventually causes your house to break. Make good decisions not because everyone else makes them or because it is easier to get away with things. Make them because it is the right thing to do.

Optometry Technician or Assistant

Optometry Technician or Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities: They are a specialized kind of medical assistant. They work in the office of an optometrists, visions or eye clinics, and many other facilities that offer vision care services. Some duties that they must perform are that they can both be administrative and clinical, even though some clinical duties vary with the state they work in. Some assistants help the Optometrists by helping them conduct diagnostic test on their patients. They must also record and measure the patient's vision, test their eye function, instruct the patients of how to insert and care for the contact lenses, they must also prepare the examination rooms, clean and arrange the equipment, answer the phone, help patients make their appointments, handle bookkeepings, and many other things. 

Salary: The median salary for the Optometry Technician or Assistant is $30,590. 

Education: They must have their high school diploma, 1-2 year training program must be taken(in community colleges and vocational schools), they should also have strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and they must also be good multi-taskers.

Demand or Need for this Profession: The outlook for this particular job is expected to grow by 23% throughout the years of 2014-2024.

      I think I would like to be an Optometry assistant because I like to meet new people and I like to be able to communicate with others and help them sort out the problems. I would also like to be one because I find this particular side of the medical field very interesting and I am getting help in studying various parts of the heart and eyes from some doctors. This is why I would like to be a Optometry Assistant.

Student Success Statement 4/17/2017

This quote is trying to say that in order to do good you must not only do good with your actions but also do good with your words. In order to be good and make a difference you must not only choose to do something by helping with only your hands but you must also help with your words. Sometimes the greatest impact can hit you when there are specific words spoken to you. You must never choose to say the bad words and say that you still did good because that is not true. The only way you have done truly good is if both your actions and your words are clean. For example if you want to make a difference such as be the president then you have to be equal to everyone. You can't say rude comments about certain people or races because then others will follow and then you see the consequences for the things you said. But if you decided to keep your rude comments aside and said other things such as how many people work hard to make this country what it is today, then people will follow those footsteps and there won't be so much riots about it. Everything is said to guide you to a specific answer. But only you words and actions can guide you to the right one.

Spring Break

Spring Break

  Spring Break went by really fast but during spring break a lot of things did happen. For instance the first things that happened to me during spring break was my first yearly appointment with my cardiologist. I used to visit him every two months but after my surgery I have to visit him every year. he told me that everything was going perfect. That I still had a small murmur but that it was the innocent kind which meant it could cause no harm. I also read 3 books over spring 5 times each. I read the City of Ashes, City of Glass and the City of Fallen Angels. My favorite out of the 3 was City of Glass. Due to the books I was reading I decided that I wanted to watch the movie that reflected off the first book which was City of Bones. After I watched the movie I listened to the sound track and many other songs that involved the movie scenes and got them stuck in my head. Spring break was also my last break before the final parade which is May 13th in Monterrey Park. I am very excited. Some homework assignments I had to complete were the Algorithm sessions and IXL for Algebra 1. I went to Riverside with my parents because my dad went to buy some stand for his speakers for his DJ business. I didn't meet new people but I did run into a few friends. I also went to Downtown Los Angeles with my mom so we could take my aunt sightseeing. My aunt is visiting from Mexico. Over break I made many CTR choices and no CTW. I helped my mom cook, clean, and take care of my siblings. I stayed with my aunt when she was by herself and kept her company. I also drew some runes from the movie I watched. This is basically all I did over Spring Break. It was a fun break.

Student Success Statement 04/06/2017

I believe that this quote is trying to say that you need to be true to yourself by standing with people who are true to you. If you stand with someone who is not true then you are only influencing yourself not to be true as well. You have to be true to yourself by being with people who show that they are true as well. Imagine you are at school, you are the new student. At your old school everything was good about you because you never did anything wrong. Then you meet the "cool kids" who ask you if you would like to hang out. You say no because you have to do your homework and you had plans with someone else to study. When you made this decision you were being true to yourself because you decided to do the right thing and stick to the plans you already had. If you said yes then you are lying to yourself because you know you have plans with someone else to study and now you're going to leave them waiting for you. If you said yes the person that you were supposed ti study with will probably no longer ask you to study with them because missing one study session shows that you are not trustworthy and they know that you didn't go for the wrong reasons. Just because you want to hang out with some people doesn't mean you have to put others behind you. That is doing the wrong thing because that is showing that you have horrible character. If you want to be true to yourself stick with people who have the same goal in mind. It is always better to stand alone than to stand with bad company.

Duties and Responsibilities: An Optometrist is a person who examine a patient's eyes and other parts of the visual system. They diagnose and treat visual problems, and they manage diseases, injuries and other disorders of the eyes. They may also prescribe contact lenses and glasses if required. They also need to perform visual test and analyze the results.

• Diagnose problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases such as glaucoma. 
• Prescribe glass or contact lenses if needed.
• They may perform minor surgical procedures to correct, treat visual or eye health
• Provide treatment and therapy
• Also provide low-vision rehabilitation
• Promote eye and general health by counseling patients

These are only a few things optometrist do.

 Salary: The median pay is $103,900, the lowest 10% of optometrist get payed less than $51, 780, and the highest 10% earn more than $187,200.

Education: In order to become an optometrist you need an O.D Degree, Postsecondary Education, License(depending on state), 1 year residency, they must also have decision-making skills, detail oriented skills, interpersonal skills, and speaking skills.

Demand for this Profession: There is a projected outcome of a 27% growth through the years of 2014-2014.

             I would like to be an optometrist because the study of the eyes has always fascinated me. I would also want to be an optometrist because I like meeting new people and helping them and with this job I can do both.

Student Success Statement 4/04/2017

"Character is higher than intellect."

I believe that this quote it trying to show the readers that character is higher than intellect because intellect has to do with knowledge and anyone can have knowledge but character shows everyone who you truly are. If you have high intellect then you are very good at school but with when you have high intellect you must also have high character. Without high character, you are only showing the world that the intellect you possess is nothing because you do not have the character it requires. This quote is also trying to show the readers that character puts thoughts into people's mind about you depending on your good or bad character. if you have high intellect but very low character then people are going to think you are smart but not responsible or that you are rude, but if you have high intellect and high character people will think that you are intelligent and that you are kind and you always make the right choice. Choices determine character such as shape determines function. Everyone may not act the same which shows that everyone's character is different. The only goal we all have in common is that everyone wants to strive for high character and high intellect. Don't make the wrong choices and always have high character and high intellect. If others are capable of it so are you.
