Student Success Statement 5/30/2017

"A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder."

I believe that this quote is trying to say that without a goal you don't know which way to steer just like a ship without a rudder and no destination. When on a ship you must know where you want to go in order to steer in that direction. Without a destination you don't know where to go therefore you don't know where to steer and rudder won't work correctly. A destination is your goal just like in life your goal is your destination. When you know where you want to go then you can steer in that direction. For example you are on a ship and you want to go to Hawaii. You must know where Hawaii is in order to steer towards your goal. If you know which way to go then you can steer your way to Hawaii. If you don't know your way then you will probably be turning in circles at the dock, like a dog chasing their tales. In order to move forward you must know your destination and which way to steer.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend

    This weekend was filled with barbeques here and there for me. On Saturday I didn't really do anything. I started a 10 paragraph essay but did not complete it. I completed the draft that was due on Tuesday. I also highlighted a patient report for Biomedical Science class. I went to South Whittier to visit my aunt from my dad's side. On Saturday I watched the soccer game of Mexico vs. Croatia. Mexico lost 2-1 but it was an interesting game. This game is also leading to the World Cup Eliminations. I read quite a few books, the first was Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick, the second was Everything Everything, another book was The Legacy of the Clockwork Key, and the final book I read was Women in the Walls. I read these 4 books within Saturday and Sunday. I also decided to start writing short stories and continue writing my music. So far I have completed one song and am halfway on another one. I also helped take care of my sister. I played with her and helped grill with my dad. I also played Just Dance 2014 with my cousin. I beat her in every round with 4 stars. It was a fun weekend. I spent some quality time with my family and spent time with a cousin I barely see because she lives in San Bernardino. I also honor my uncle who is a army veteran. That is basically everything I did on Memorial Day Weekend.

Student Success Statement 5/25/2017

"When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive."

What this quote is trying to portray is that in order to move on from an injury that was done to us then we must forgive the person who cause the injury otherwise you will never move on. When you forgive you feel better because you are letting off a wave of guilt. For example, let's say that you are taking a walk with your friend. Then you end up getting robbed. You contact the police and the robber is taken into custody. You think you will be fine because the robber is behind bars and he can't do anymore harm to others but by thinking that you are causing more harm to yourself. You decide to go visit the robber and forgive for what he did. This changes you because you learned that forgiving is the key to moving on and having a better life. With your act you have shown that by giving him your forgiveness he can change and become a better person because you are giving him a reason to. In order to have a happier life you must learn to forgive and forget  because pain is in the past and you must go past it to more forward. The more you look towards the past the longer it's going to take you to keep moving forward.

Student Success Statement 5/23/2017

"Dare to do right."

I believe that this quote is trying to show readers that you should make the right choices instead of the wrong ones. When you dare to do the right thing then you are accepting to do only the right things such as help others, do your homework, write your notes, etc. For example let's say you were trying to prove that you were stronger than your best friend. They decided to take you to the weight room and test it. They told you that you that if you thought you were so strong then you should be able to bench press 150 lbs really easily. You decided to do so. When you attempted to bench press you started feeling shaky. You ended up hurting your arms. Now if you would have never taken the dare then you wouldn't have to suffer the pain that came along. You also wouldn't have to see the worry in other people's faces. You should only accept the dare that tells you to do the right thing. By accepting that dare you are showing that you are a strong and brave person because you will do the right thing. Never do a dare to prove something that isn't worthwhile, do the dare that shows the right choice.

Duties and Responsibilities: Physical therapist review their patients' medical history reports to help them conclude what they need to help them with. They also have to review any referrals or notes from the patient's doctor or surgeon's. They must diagnose their patients' functions and movements by watching them walk or stand. They may develop individualized plans for their patient's care. These outline the goals of the patient and the outcome they expect. They use exercise and stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy and equipment to help ease a patient's pain and help them increase their mobility, prevent further pain or injury and help with health and wellness. They must evaluate and record their patient's progress so that they can modify their care plan and treatments. They must also educate the patient's family about what they should be expecting from the recovery process and they should best cope with the challenges they will face. 

Salary: Their average pay is $85,400 a year or $41.06 and hour.

Education: They must be licensed and have a certificate depending on the state they work in, DPT Degree, CAPTE, Bachelor's Degree, they must also have compassion, be detail-oriented, dexterity, interpersonal skills, physical stamina, and have resourcefulness.

Demand or Need for This Profession: It is projected to grow by 34% throughout 2014-2024.

Reflection: Would you like to become one? Why? Why not?

     I would like to become a physical therapist because I have actually met one and they help me take care of my grandmother. Because of this experience, I have wanted to help others that need physical help. I am also very compassionate and I love to be around other people and be as helpful as I can be and if I am a physical therapist I believe that I can do just that.

I believe that this statement is trying to say that if you want to succeed then you need to make goals and the pursue them the right way. When you make a goal you adding one step into your life that needs to be built. In order to build this step you must pursue your goal and achieve it the correct way. For example let us say that there was a project and your goal was to finish it by the end of class. You started off really well but then you got stuck on the last question. You decided to copy the person next to you and then you turned your project in. You will not succeed because you copied the person next to you. If you would have looked through a passage to find the answer then you would have completed your goal the right way but by cheating you have completed your goal the incorrect way. Therefore nothing will fall into place because you will feel guilt that wouldn't be there if you decided to do the project without cheating. On the other hand if you did finish the project and you asked for help and then answered the question then you have pursued your goal the right way. Never make the wrong choice, Make the right choice because you want to not have to.

Duties and Responsibilities: Read scripts and meet with other professionals before they accept a role. In order to receive a specific role they must audition in front of directors and producers. They must also research their character in order to get the proper outcome. They must research things such as their character's traits and circumstances in order to portray a better image. They must also memorize and rehearse their lines with their fellow actors. They have to discuss their role with the director and other actors so that they can improve the overall performance. Another thing they must do is perform their role following the directors directions.

Salary: Independent actors make an average of $45.39 an hour, and other actors make an average of $43.33 an hour.

Education: Specialize in Bachelor's Degree(degree is not required), Acting Conservatory or University and/or Theater Arts Program and College Classes.

Demand for this Particular Career: Is is projected to grow 10% from 2014-2024.

        I would like to be an actor because I love being in show business. Ever since I was little I loved to be in plays and currently in 8th grade I got the lead role for Alice in Wonderland. I also want to be an actor because that would also help me bring out my musical talent.

I believe that this quote is saying that the most important thing that will be needed in life are good values because they help show everyone who you are and whether you dependable or not. Having values is like many leaves growing on a tree. There are so many that it is hard to keep count. In order to have good values you must treat others a certain way and think of yourself a certain way. You must also be dependable, trustworthy, patient, friendly, etc. For example let's say that it's the first day of school and you meet a new student and then you see your friend from 2 years ago. You and your friend spend a lot of time together and basically know the school really well but you want to meet the new student and help them get around really well. You feel that if you don't go with your friend then they will stay mad at you and they might not want to hang out with you. On the other hand if you help the new student then you can make a new friend. You decide to help the new student and you tell your friend that you guys can hang out another time. Your friend understands and says that they'll reschedule. When you meet the new student you realize that you put your values over your feelings. If you decided to go with your friend then you show that you might not be friendly of helpful. By helping the new student you have made the right choice and you also may have made a new friend. Values are connected to the true person you are, whether you decide to show them is one you.

What I believe this quote is trying to say is that when you are making a decision is is always the wise choice to do the right thing instead of the wrong. For example if you were walking around and you say that someone forgot their purse. What would you do? Would you go through and hope to find some money and other valuable belongings or would you give it back? If you were to do the right thing you would find the owner and give it back to the them the same way you found it. If you did the wrong thing, then they could accuse you of theft and you could be sitting in the back of a police car. Always make the right decision because it is the best one. If you are considering doing the right thing because you would get recognition then you are not completely right because you could do the right thing and not be recognized at all. The best part of doing the right thing is that the feeling will always stay with you and you will never regret it. Always make the right decision, even in the most difficult of times because it is always the right one that will put you on top.

Student Success Statement 5/5/2017

"Nothing is gained in doing what's wrong."

I believe that this quote is saying that when you do something wrong, you come out losung because nothing can be gained, not even a lesson. When you do something wrong and you end up paying for the consequences, you might say, well I learned that I should no longer do this and that is a gain from doing something wrong but in reality you haven't gained anything because after you did something wrong you end up dropping to rock bottom. For example, let's say you were doing a book report. The report was due in two weeks, but you decided to put it off till the last minute. Then you ended up not following the rubric and therefore you have failed your book report. You might think that you have learned your lesson because that means that for the next assignment you will not procrastinate, but in fact you have not gained anything because you just dropped your grade. You also dropped the high level of expectations the teachers have on you. But in general you have showed the teachers that you are not responsible and therefore you have also lost their trust. On the other hand, if you decided to do the book report the instant it was given to you then you may have gained more than you have thought. Never think that doing the wrong thing will help you get better because it will only sink you further into the sea. To truly gain something you must work hard for and do the right thing.

I believe that this statement is trying to tell us that is good to know someone who has such great character because then it will make an impact in all of society. This not only applies to people who have already began making a difference with their character but for those who want to make a difference as well. For example lets say that you were competing to become your district championships in music. When it was your turn to perform you realized that there were more people than you said were going to compete. You decide to walk over to the judges table and tell them that you have more people competing than they have written down. Due to this your group has to wait even longer because this is not their corresponding place. After that great act of character, you feel much better competing in the place where you stand the same chance as everyone else. If you decided not to tell the judges that you had more member competing than anticipated then you would have gotten penalty points and that would have dropped your score. After you compete you still end up placing in the top 3 which means that your act of character paid off. Not always will you have a compensation but you will always have the good feeling to help you get through your days.

Can I get of that circle? No, never! I'd die first."

What I believe this quote is trying to say is that in order for someone to trust you, you must give them your word of honor which is a way to show your promise to never step out of line and finish what you had promised. For example, let's say that you are in the middle of a game. Someone was out of place and they suspect it is you. Instead of making a fuss about it you give them your word of honor and tell them the truth. Maybe you did it and you didn't notice so you took the blame. This shows that you are a person worthy of honor. If you decided to argue instead of taking the blame then you deserve nothing that has to do with honor. Besides how can someone earn honor when their word isn't true. In order for your word of honor to be taken seriously, then you must act serious and you must establish trust. People often say they will do something and then end up doing another but with your word of honor you can never step outside of what you promise because then you word of honor was fraud. A word of honor is what shows whether you are worthy of being honored or not. So give your word of honor and stick by it because it will guide you through the toughest decisions.
