Drum Corps
Duties and Responsibilities: They perform for many people during their summer circuits. The members are usually between the age of 13-22 and are members of Drum Corps Associates or Drum Corps International. They are in festivals, parades and many other festivities. Participants must also be physically active. They prepare a new show every year that is about 8-12 minutes long in length and they refine it during the summer tour. They learn many varieties of music such as jazz, rock, symphonic, big band, wind band, rap, Broadway, vocal, etc. They must be ready to perform at any given moment and are required to learn the field show as soon as possible. Competitive junior corps spend about 10 and 15 weeks on tour over the summer and perform full time. All -age and Alumni Corps have a less demanding schedule and usually only perform on the weekends.
Average Salary: The average salary for the drum corps international jobs is $64,204.
Education: Musically talented, Plays Brass instruments or Drums.
Demand: Expands every year without a constant rate.
Reflection:
I would like to be in Drum Corps because I have always loved music and I am currently in a Marching Band. This would also be a great experience to be in because you meet people internationally who share the same love as you do.
