"Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn't. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater. Don't do it."
-George Mitchell
I believe that this quote is trying to say that cheating is not worth your time because when you cheat you will never forget about it and you will always feel guilty for your actions and guilty because there is no taking back what you did. When you cheat you leave a stain. A stain that is hard to remove unless you decide to come clean and tell the truth. Once you do that the stain will not vanish completely because you are still left with guilt and you will never be able to take that back. For example when you go to class and the teacher surprises you with a pop quiz but you don't know the material you are being tested on, you start to panic. You decide to sit by the smartest student in class and you end up copying their test. You pass the test with a 100% and for the first week you feel great. Then the next week you start to feel pain. For the next few weeks it doesn't change. It begins to hurt more than you thought it should. You then ask yourself "why did I do this?'. You did it because you thought it was better than studying. After this mistake you go to your teacher and you tell them that you cheated. They appreciate your honesty but you grade has now dropped. You decide to make a promise. A promise that says you will not cheat. You will not cheat because it only brings pain that you cannot bear. From now on you do everything by your own hand and you never cheat again. Cheating is a huge burden you bring upon yourself. Sometimes it's hard to push it away but you must tell yourself that you will never touch the cloud that it sits upon. Never cheat because it is not worth the short term gain or the long term pain.
