Dental Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities: Dental assistants assist the Dentist in any procedures or check-ups with their patients. They make the check-up more efficient by preparing the patient for the treatments they will be facing. They help with all the dental instruments and positioning the dentist in the correct position for the check-ups to take place. They are basically the dentist’s extra hands. They also have a lower expertise than a dental hygienist. Dental assistants also are not allowed to carry on with any procedures unless they are authorized to do so. They are also required to take x-rays of the patients for the dentist to view.

Average Salary: $34,730

Education Requirements:  Must hold a CPR certified certificate, high school diploma, graduate from an accredited dental assisting program.

Demand for this Profession: The dental assistant demand is growing 18% through 2014-2024

  I would not like to be a dental assistant because I don’t want to accidently mix x-rays or any data of a patient. And I don’t want to mess up when I’m cleaning their teeth.
